The WHSF held their annual conference on 1 November 2017 in the Christchurch Centre in Newport.
Entitled ‘Empowerment, the Force is with You’ the conference featured guest speaker and mentor to newly injured spinal-cord injury patients- Matt King OBE, and Allison Williams, Chief Executive, Cwm Taf University Health Board, and was attended by over 150 people.
Attendees came from across NHS Wales, universities and Welsh Government and were welcomed to the event by Director of WEDS, and conference Chair, Stephen Griffiths. This was followed by an opening address by Julie Rogers, Director of Workforce and Organisational Development, NHS Wales, Welsh Government.
There was also a talk by Dr Chris Jones, Interim Chair of Health Education and Improvement Wales, a new health and education body that will be formally established in Wales in 2018.
The event went extremely well and I was delighted with not only the numbers of people that attended but their enthusiasm and willingness to get involved throughout the day. There was a lot of interaction and feedback which will help to inform the future direction of the WHSF. A big thank you to our speakers also. They were inspirational with attendees discussing their presentations throughout the day. I would also like to thank everyone that came together to make the day the successit was and look forward to our next WHSF event in 2018.
